It has been suggested that breakfast is the most important meal of the
day yet it is the one most regularly missed by children.
Studies have shown that eating breakfast can improve children’s problem solving abilities, their memory, concentration levels, visual perception and creative thinking. Punctuality and school attendance can also improve.
An additional benefit is that a nourishing breakfast may mean that children are more likely to reduce their intake of confectionery.
Increasing numbers of parents work outside the home and they often need pre school provision for their children.
A full breakfast service is now available in all secondary schools. Many primary schools have or are in the process of introducing breakfast clubs.
